Auckland Government Women's Network (AGWN)
We are a network of women from a wide range of agencies in the Auckland region.
AGWN supports women to achieve their potential. We help to create connections between people and agencies across sectors in the wider Auckland area. We enable members to share information and resources and run professional development-related events.

About AGWN
In Auckland, there are over 120 separate government office sites and over 100,000 public servants. AGWN is a network for all interested women, and supporters, from any government organisation or agency in the wider Auckland area (e.g. Auckland Council, Auckland Transport, District Health Boards).
AGWN is a regional arm of the Government Women's Network (GWN), supporting women's networks within Auckland's public sector agencies. AGWN offers events, resources and learning opportunities for its members. Where possible, AGWN events are held in a range of locations around the Auckland region, beyond just the CBD, to provide the best opportunities for women and their supporters to participate.
Our aims:
AGWN aims include:
- Addresses topics of interest to women in the greater Auckland area and promotes regional networking events
- Shares resources and information between GWN and AGWN and with networks throughout the Auckland region
- Shares successes and outcomes from events and connection with their members and networks
- Shares government information with AGWN members and promote information and events publicised by GWN
- Partners with the Women in Public Sector Summit (Auckland).
Auckland Women in Public Service Summit 2023
The 2023 Auckland Summit was a powerful and inspiring day for all involved. The summits have been running since 2016 and aim to provide professional development in order to equip women, helping them achieve their potential, inspire, motivate, and create professional connections. The Auckland summit was no exception delivering a programme tailored to Aucklanders and featuring speakers from a range of stages in their careers, from Noa Samasoni winner of the Young Leader of the Year Award to Hon Carmel Sepuloni and Aged Care Commissioner Carolyn Cooper.
There was wonderful feedback from many who attended about the value of meeting kanohi ki te kanohi face to face, making connections, shaping their career paths and being inspired by other women in the public service. Head to the GWN website to see key takeaways from the day and the summit photo gallery.
