About CARN
The Cross Agency Rainbow Network includes representatives from different agencies across the public service.
The network is supported by their sponsor, Carolyn Tremain (MBIE), an active membership list, and governance committee. Network-wide meetings take place approximately every four weeks.
To see more about the Cross Agency Rainbow Network's work, you can download a copy of the 2022 CARN Annual Report.
There are many agencies in New Zealand's public sector which have Rainbow Networks. To find out if there's a network in your agency, or for information about joining or starting a Rainbow Network get in touch.
Transitioning and Gender Affirmation in the New Zealand Public Service | Te Tauwhiro Ira Tangata i roto i te Ratonga Tūmatanui o Aotearoa
Everyone in the Public Service is entitled to work in a safe and inclusive workplace, where people treat one another with respect. For transgender or non-binary people, this is no different.
The long-awaited Transitioning and Gender Affirmation advice is now live on the Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission website for CARN.
Who is this for?
This project was to help create guidance and support for those who are transitioning or thinking about transitioning while in their public service job. It is also for those who are there to support you through your journey – your people leader, human resources, co-workers and anyone else around you.
A big thanks to those involved
Many CARN members and volunteers were involved in this mahi writing, developing, editing and reviewing this information. As well as feedback provided from Gender Minorities Aotearoa, The Human Rights Commission and ELN Team. Thank you so much to all that were involved, you can be incredibly proud of what you’ve achieved.
